The Steering Group of the International Dialogue on Peace building and State building to Meet in Juba

Juba, December 16, 2012 (SSNA) — On 17th and 18th December-Juba, the Republic of South Sudan is hosting the annual Steering Group Meeting of the International Dialogue on Peace building and State building.

The International Dialogue is the preeminent forum for high-level political dialogue between countries affected by conflict and fragility, their international partners, and civil society. Together they seek to identify, agree upon and implement more effective ways to support transitions from conflict and fragility and build peaceful states.

More than 40 countries and organizations participate in the International Dialogue. This includes the 19 conflict- affected and fragile countries that are members of the g7+ group, the members of the OECD-DAC International Network on Conflict and Fragility (INCAF), and civil society organizations.

This Steering Group meeting will bring together 40 high-profile participants, including Ministers and senior officials from international agencies. It is chaired by Ms. Emilia Pires (Minister of Finance, Timor-Leste), and Mr. Christian Friis Bach (Danish Minister of Development Cooperation).

The key issues for discussion include progress in implementation of the new deal for engagement in fragile states, and the post-2015 development agenda.

The meeting will begin at 14:30 on Monday 17th December at Juba Grand Hotel.
