Re: SPLM Australia Leadership Launches Conference

Australia, October 13, 2014 (SSNA) — The newly appointed SPLM Leadership in Australia has launched an ever first two days conference in the history of the Movement in Australia since the outbreak of Salva Kiir’s fabricated Coup D’état on 15 December 2013, which resulted in unprecedented massacre of the citizens and destruction of the young nation.

The delegations were able to identify four important resolutions during this conference:

  • Strategic planning aiming to assist the South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Agency (SSRRA) and the SPLM leadership in Australia to generate funds and mobilise humanitarian corridors effectively and efficiently;
  • Discussed and agreed upon important strategies aiming to strengthening strong communication, coordination and support between the Office of the Country Representative, Country Coordination Office, State Chapters, Youth League, Women League, South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Agency and South Sudanese Australian Business Group;
  • Discussed about the important of speeding up the elections of most of the SPLM’s organs as per the 90 days mandate and appointment instructions given by the Movement’s Command Post in Addis Ababa; and
  • Discussed about the important of maintaining the mobilisation of the sympathisers of the Movement, raising awareness to International Community about the crimes committing daily by Kiir’s regime in Juba, maintaining stronger teamwork, coordinating with the Movement’s leadership and remaining determine to supporting the change for Kiir’s dictatorship regime that has crippled the social fabric of the faithful community of the Republic of South Sudan.

The Chairman of the Movement and Commander in Chief, Dr Riek Machar Teny and the Deputy Chairman for External Affairs, Ambassador, Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth and Chairman of Resources Mobilisation, Mr Thomson Lew Changson, addressed the delegations in the conference and praised them for remaining consciences and for holding the first ever Diaspora Leadership Launch Conference in Australia.

Dr Machar strongly condemned the oppression, suffering and anguish that all citizens in the tens states of the Republic of South Sudan are witnessing daily under Kiir’s leadership, called for the unity among citizens and extended such calls for all South Sudanese in all corners of the world to continue to stand tall and speak out loud in order to return the young nation to peace and harmony. Dr Machar reminded the delegations that freedom is not cheap or free but assured them of his hopes for better days were South Sudanese shall be free from Kiir’s divisive and hatred regime, co-exist and live in harmony as one; and be able to elect a government that they owned, cares for them and realised their potential as one nation united in peace by their national anthem and flag.

Dr Machar pledged to the delegations to continue to unite the citizens and expressed his determination to addressing the root causes of the collapsing of the nation in the peace talks which is currently taking place in Addis Ababa Ethiopia. Dr Machar referred to the root causes of the fall out of war in the young nation as: a weak governing system stemming from consolidation of all executive powers in the hand of Kiir for his own interest; incompetent national security sectors that Kiir is incapable to reform, paralysed and incompetent judiciary organs that Kiir capitalises on to humiliate the citizen and destroy the nation, complete absent of strategic planning to direct and facilitate the operations of both public and private sectors, poor foreign policies; tribalisation of the nation’s leadership and to mention few. Dr Machar concluded his address of the conference with the last strongest statement that he and his team are ‘so determine to do what it takes to ensure South Sudanese are freed from Kiir’s oppressed regime once and for all’.
