March 12, 2016 (SSNA) –– Journalist Afendi Joseph Deng went missing on 04 March 2016, after being abducted by security agents and dumped in a graveyard on Tuesday 8th of March after serious torturing.
African Centre for Transitional Justice (ACT-J) calls upon the Government of South Sudan under the Leadership of Kiir to respect Media professionals in the Country.
Torturing, harassment or Killings of Journalists, Human rights defenders is terrorism act that could be observes with care by International Human Rights bodies. The current incident where Journalist Afenndi have been tortured is absolutely wrong and government of South Sudan should bring the culprits in to book.
Journalism is not a terrorism or criminal act but a profession for enlightenment. Anyone who harass, tortured and killed Professional Journalists in South Sudan on monthly basis is terrorist and should be immediately question or put under serious investigation.
African Centre for Transitional Justice (ACT-J) calls upon GRSS to bring in to book those who are torturing, harassing and killing Journalists in South Sudan. The unknown security agents MUST be identify this time by the GRSS and masses!
