Juba, June 29, 2018 (SSNA) — South Sudanese President Salva Kiir and rebel leader Dr. Riek Machar have ordered all their troops to observe the recently signed permanent ceasefire, saying they are working to bring a lasting peace in the country.
The two rival leaders said the agreement hey signed in Khartoum this week stipulates that ceasefire must take effect on June 30 (midnight).
Machar, who has been under house arrest in South Africa for almost 18 months, returned to East Africa this month after the East African regional bloc IGAD invited him to have a face-to-face meeting with Kiir.
