Khartoum, July 6, 2018 (SSNA) — South Sudanese warring parties on Friday agreed on a new security arrangement deal, paving the way for more discussions between the government, SPLM-IO, the opposition alliance, and other political parties.
The new security arrangements document, “Agreement on Outstanding Issues of Security Arrangements,” is a revised version of the 2015 security arrangement deal, according to the South Sudan News Agency analysis of the text.
The agreement calls for the release of all Prisoners of War (POWs) and barred military presence in refugee camps, villages, churches, and schools.
Rebel leader Dr. Riek Machar, Sudanese President Omar el Bashir, President Kiir, and representatives of all parties to the conflict are expected to meet in Uganda Saturday for more discussions.
