Washington, D.C., October 9, 2018 (SSNA) — The United States’ Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, has resigned Tuesday, according to the White House.
During the announcement at the Oval Office, President Trump described the outgoing diplomat as a “fantastic person who has done an incredible job.”
Haley abrupt resignation comes as a surprise to many UN observers.
Haley visited South Sudanese refugees in Ethiopia and South Sudan in October 2017. Her visit to the war-ravaged young nation gives hope to millions of displaced South Sudanese that the US will help restore calm to their nation. Haley also successfully orchestrated a United Nations Security Council arms embargo on South Sudan in May.
It is not clear when Haley will vacate the post. However, the White House has indicated that she will leave her post as Ambassador by the end of this year.

Dear Mrs. Haley, you will greatly be missed because your influence is so great. I see the impact you have made around the world. Though, some countries are stubborn to heed your voice but I really see how serious you are in your role in your country and extended to other nations. Yes, I wish you a peaceful rest from that business though it is for good reason but I respect your decision to leave the administration. Wish you all the best!
