Kampala, January 9, 2019 (SSNA) — A controversial South Sudanese millionaire who was arrested by Uganda’s Internal Security Organization (ISO) in November 2018 lashed out at the Ugandan security agency on Tuesday, accusing an unnamed fired ISO director of operations of colluding with thieves to get his money. He accuses the unnamed director of trying to illicitly get $1.5 million dollars from him in exchange for his release.
In a video obtained by the South Sudan News Agency (SSNA), Lawrence Lual Malong Yor Jr., the millionaire in question, talks about how he was illegally detained on November 14, 2018 and why he believes his arrest was illegal. Lawrence also thanks his social media fans and urges them to continue the fight on his behalf.
In the video, a link of which is provided above, Lawrence brags how he was kept in a “safe house” where he was labeled as “special guest.” He declares in the video that he does not like the way his captors call him “special guest.”
In a rather stunning move, Lawrence assets that the other reason he was arrested is that the US-based Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) was pressuring the Ugandan intelligence agency, ISO, to find out his wealth and why no authority questions his source of wealth. The millionaire whom most South Sudanese believe he got his wealth from former South Sudan army chief of staff Paul Malong Awan also states that his release was ordered by Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and that the Ugandan leader first fired an ISO director for operations after he found out that the former spy arrested Lawrence without a good cause. The tycoon also says the Ugandan-based intelligence agency, ISO, accused him of working for the CIA. It is not clear if Lawrence claims are genuine. However, Lawrence has in the past been accused of being “an attention-seeker.”
Lawrence also states that he is a legitimate businessman and that he invests “a lot of money” in Uganda, saying he has refineries in and around Kampala.
The tycoon further explains that a new ISO director for operations talked to ISO Director General Colonel Frank Bagyenda Kaka about his case and that Col. Kaka told the new operations director that the former unnamed ISO director for operations did a big mistake by detaining him for 50 days without any reason. Lawrence also claims that his arrest divided the entire Ugandan intelligence community. Lawrence says he thanks Uganda President for ordering his release without giving specifics.
It is not clear if the former ISO operations director Lawrence accused of illegally detaining him was in fact removed from his post because of Lawrence’s case. However, an investigation conducted by the South Sudan News Agency (SSNA) reveals that Ugandan President Museveni dismissed at least 45 intelligence agents including three directors before Lawrence’s arrest.
In October 2018, Lawrence claimed in an interview with a Kenyan journalist that he got his wealth from his God, Jesus. It is widely believed in South Sudan that the tycoon made his money during former army chief Paul Malong’s time including illicit dealings.

Lawrence Lual is a clean business man.
He shouldn’t be disturbed like that.
Why don’t the accuse themselves of where they get their money from?
Anyway power is above all and that’s why Mr. Lawrence has been disturbed since because he is not a man on power or they would have not questioned him in any way if he was a government official.
Jesus will always protect Lualdït.
The so-called Lawrence Lual is a thief. He and his step-father Paul Malong had stolen army money. They also made illegal diamond and gold dealings with foreign companies. Lawrence and his step-father will one day explain to South Sudanese where they become millionaires while their salaries were known to everybody. Lawrence himself has no legit job. He became millionaire through illicit dealings and corruption through Paul Malomg.
