UK ambassador to South Sudan to be replaced in May

Juba, February 19, 2019 (SSNA) — The United Kingdom has picked a new ambassador to replace its current Ambassador who will be transferred to a different diplomatic post, UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office has announced.

In a statement, the foreign office explains that Christopher John Trott will be the new ambassador, replacing ambassador Ms. Alison Blackburne. Ms. Blackburne was appointed in April 2017.

“Mr Christopher Trott has been appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of South Sudan in succession to Ms Alison Blackburne who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Mr Trott will take up his appointment during May 2019,” the Foreign Office says.

The incoming ambassador, Christopher Trott, is the current UK Special Representative for South Sudan and Sudan and Head of Joint FCO/ Department for International Development (DFID) Sudan Unit, according to the foreign office. Mr. Trott has also worked in various diplomatic services since 1999, according to the foreign office.
