Juba, July 17, 2024 (SSNA) — The Secretary-General of South Sudan`s National Examination Council Simon Nyok Deng apologized to the public, saying his institution failed for over seven months to release Certificate of Secondary Education (CSE) results because of financial problems.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Simon Nyok revealed to the public the reason why his ministry is unable to meet the dateline.

“On behalf of the National Examinations Council and my behalf, I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to the general public, particularly to the 2023 candidates, parents, schools, and all the other stakeholders for the delay in the release of the 2023 CSE examinations results which has been caused by circumstances beyond NEC’s control,” Simon declared, adding, “The delay happened because the Council is unable to obtain the remaining funds to facilitate the final stages of processing the results.”

South Sudan has a history of not paying salaries on time. Most civil servants often go for months without pay.
