USSP Condemns the Repeated Detentions of its Leader

April 16, 2010News, Press ReleasesNo Commentssouthsudannews

As providing transport for party supporters to go and vote is totally in accordance with the rules of the National Electoral Commission (NEC), USSP on its part feels strongly that it had not in any way breached the election regulations to warrant this demeaning and cruel treatment of its Leader by the security personneland the police.

USSP believes that there are some politicians behind these detentions, harassments and illegal actions that were taken against the party’s Leader with the primary intent at obstructing his progress in the polls and a failed attempt at tainting the image of a party (USSP), which is seen to be doing well and its Leader who is popular with the people of the area.

USSP regrets the way the security personnel and the police have allowed themselves to be cheaply used by undisciplined and ill-informed politicians to take sides in political issues thus compromising their professionalism which otherwise requires neutrality.

“A desire to resist oppression is implanted in the nature of man”. Tacitus.

Dr. Justin Ambago Ramba
Secretary General
United South Sudan Party (USSP)
