South Sudan Between Elections re-take, Rebellion and Referendum

May 17, 2010ArticlesNo Commentssouthsudannews

No amount of writings or political statements without true democratic transformation on the ground can make up for a stable, peaceful, and prosperous south Sudan. And the need for good governance will remain to be an immediate pre-requisite and even more so before crossing over to become an independent nation in 2011.

The one piece of advice we all need is that, ‘the lack of freedom and democracy can only breed dissent which eventually manifests itself as rebellion’. As many of us were rebels themselves, at one time or the other, we should know better what invites rebellion. And may be an early re-take of elections in the immediate post referendum era could present us with the vital way out, provided of course they are not also rigged again.

Dr.  Justin Ambago Ramba,  M.B, B.Ch, D.R.H, MD. Secretary General of the United South Sudan Party (USSP). The party that stands for the independence of South Sudan. Can be reached at [email protected] or [email protected]
