The rise and the fall

By Toang GatKuoth Buom

June 7, 2014 (SSNA) — As I was watching the 70th anniversary of the allies landing in June 6, 1944 known as D-DAY two things come to mind; citizens put trust on the wrong people in the wrong time, and make you the strongest person on face of the earth, then you make yourself fall to the finish. Again, you could think of using extermination as a viable mean of gaining power, but you could still not succeed. Hitler have done it to Jews, today the nation of Israel is proudly standing tall. This evils tactic has been used in Rwanda, Uganda under Idi Amin, Apartheids of South Africa and just the names of few.

These governments or leaders were labeled as the most evil leaders or governments in this 21st-century. In contrary, good example in leaderships were also made. Nelson Mandela of South Africa made a remarkable transition of the government in his days and so do Julius Nyerere of Tanzania. Story doesn’t come from the top of the mountain and presented itself to you, it could be made by the people and for the people. Salva Kiir had many chances of good legacy in South Sudan, but he opts for dark passes, and there is not visible ways to make himself rise to the top again as he once was in the country.

People could disagree with my statements but go and tell it to South Africans that Apartheid killed for many years-tell it to Ugandan that Idi Amin killed and used as pets in the country-tell it to Libyans that Gaddafi killed and imprisoned without impunity for 42 years, and finally tell it to Rwandans that faced the extinction of the generation with the hate that almost destroyed their great country.

In this planet earth people have differences but settle them without killing innocent people. We are all aware many lives were lost in this conflict-targeting Nuer by Kiir militia on the start and I can assure you that Kiir and his loyalists WILL NOT SUCCEED. Jews were massacred in World War II and were not exterminated from the face of the earth. If you’re fighting for the freedom of your people why wait? Today is the right time for the people of South Sudan to set themselves free from this ruthless government. If you’re with the government and you think you’re doing the right thing-tell it to Gen. Dau Aturjong Nyuol who was robbed while won the election in 2010.

Many people were robbed within the same party and now you’re thinking nothing is wrong in Kiir government? My appeal to you is free yourselves from the dead and join SPLM-In-Opposition. The sensation of our country needs to be felt by all not some rogue individuals. With all means I’m still determined that South Sudan will emerged as one of the best country in East Africa.
