Juba, May 30, 2016 (SSNA) — The Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (JMEC) will convene a meeting Tuesday in Juba to discuss and adopt issues related to humanitarian as stipulated in the Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (ARCSS), adding its chairman Festus G Mogae will have opening remarks at the beginning of the gathering.

The agency also says in the statement that the meeting will discuss reports from the newly formed Transitional Government of National Unity (TGoNU) and other institutions (CTSAMM, JMCC, SDSR, NCAC) that were established in the ARCSS.

JMEC is also expected to discuss progress on the reports of Police’s Joint Management Team, Joint Integrated Police (JIP), Joint Operations Center, and other recommendations.

In the meeting, JMEC’s deputy chairman will disclose results of consultation with other South Sudan’s political parties, according to the document obtained by the South Sudan News Agency (SSNA).

The SSNA has learned that First Vice President and leader of the SPLM/A-IO Dr. Riek Machar told JMEC a few weeks ago that peace partners should do their job as stipulated in the agreed peace documents.

The source also told our reporter that Machar is not happy about several peace-related issues, especially lack of complete demilitarization of Juba.

  • Now, it appears that no political will to tackle outstanding issues in peace implementation by two waring factions, let the JMEC do whatever may bring back total stability in the country for the benefit of innocent civil population.
