Breaking: UN Security Council rejects South Sudan arms embargo

New York/Juba, December 23, 2016 (SSNA) — The United Nations Security Council has rejected the US-drafted arms embargo resolution, a UN diplomatic source told the South Sudan News Agency.

The resolution falls short of nine votes needed to pass.

The U.S. managed to secure seven votes, but the other eight council members led by Russia, China, and Venezuela fail to cast their votes, saying it will not solve anything.

The United States said it will bring another resolution for a vote.

    • To Riek Machar supporters, this is not only about arm embargo or sanction.
It would ban Riek from traveling and his assets freeze. Malong Awan & Makuei Lueth are other officials subjected to these as well.
But what’s important, the sanction or arm embargo can’t stop war or bring peace. It can’t stop allege coming genocide. Of course, there would be reprisals against UN and other advocates inside South Sudan.

Those who who abstained or voted against the arms embargo on South Sudan are simply supporters of South Sudanese murderers. They have chosen evil against good. They lack humanity, love for human life except their own. Sorry they can view this devastating war like that.

  • These are all delaying tactice .we would have no problem as the nation,if our force were equal in Juba with arminition. And now ipresident Kiir ‘s fear and Dr.Riek is very humbe to peace completely.Put both of to Juba with equal force so as for president to get fear and make pressure on Dr. Riek not to violate it.
