Juba, January 3, 2022 (SSNA) — The Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has directed his government to send medical and humanitarian aid to South Sudan, senior Egyptian and South Sudanese government officials said.

The aid, which Cairo brands as “humanitarian” is meant to help communities affected by rains, floods, and other health-related problems, arrived at the Juba International Airport on an Egyptian military plane.

Officials from both sides said after the delivery that the aid shows strong ties between Cairo and Juba.

The Egyptian government said last month that it has launched development projects in South Sudan and that the projects include construction of a 5-star hotel in Juba, a conference center, rehabilitation of power stations in the cities of Yambio and Rumbek.
