Washington, DC, October 8, 2012 (SSNA) — The vice President of the Republic of South Sudan H.E Dr Riek Machar Teney briefed South Sudanese community in Omaha, Nebraska here in the United States on Saturday, October 6, 2012 about the latest development in South Sudan. Even as the vice president gave lectures on their deceptive achievements on the development in South Sudan, he didn’t wind up without singing the SPLM’s usual bamboozled old song that SPLM-DC is a strong ally to South Sudan rebels.
The office of the SPLM-DC/USA Secretariat is here to tell South Sudanese, U.N member agencies and international community that the SPLM’s allegation, voiced by our vice president, is false and unfounded. The SPLM, as the ruling party in South Sudan, time and again blames its failures on good governance and maintaining security on SPLM-DC, and does it whenever the tough gets going. SPLM-DC is the government in waiting comes 2015 and therefore its strong grassroots support in South Sudan is a bitter pill that the SPLM party cannot swallow.
The SPLM culture of recklessness is that SPLM-DC becomes part of rebel groups in South Sudan when there are insecurity incidents and it is South Sudan official opposition party when things are stable. If it is so true that the SPLM has full evidences for SPLM-DC connection with armed groups and Southern rebels, why there is no court challenge by the SPLM to proof its version of story? It is recalled that the SPLM signed several peace deals with the armed groups of George Athor, Gabriel Tang Ginya, David Duoth Lam, David Yau Yau and Johnson Olony, why were these military peace accords were signed without involvement of SPLM-DC if it were indeed a voice for the South Sudanese rebels?
The office of the SPLM-DC/USA Secretariat is here to categorically state that the SPLM-DC is just a political party that advocates for the basic rights of citizens of South Sudan, and eradicate tribalism, corruption and restore rule of law. The party believes that issues in South Sudan can be resolved through peaceful and democratic means and not through violent and hooligan manner. The SPLM’s way of deregistering the SPLM-DC using false allegations that the SPLM-DC party champions the cause of the armed rebellion in the Republic of South Sudan is a misinterpretation of facts.
The SPLM leadership stated in several occasions, after the arrival of SPLM-DC leader to Juba on October 3, 2011 and meeting in Nairobi Kenya, that no available evidence to believe that SPLM-DC is the political wing of the South Sudan rebel group. The SPLM-DC believes that the historic statement that our party is a political organization fighting for peace, equality, freedom and justice is intact, and anything short of that spirit is a manufactured lie. Here in the United States of America, the sympathizers, supporters and the SPLM-DC/USA Secretariat fully support aims, objectives and guidelines of the SPLM-DC party and pledge their full support to the wise leadership of the party chairman Dr Lam Akol Ajawin.
