Job Summary:
Kampala, September 12, 2013 (SSNA) — A full time Programmes Officer is being sought to lead the coordination and implementation of SIHA’s South Sudan project on women’s access to justice and gender equality and other SIHA initiatives in South Sudan. The PO is instrumental in drafting SIHA’s plan of operation in South Sudan, he or she will be responsible for the implementation of the SIHA plan in South Sudan and monitoring the quality of delivery. The PO will support and oversee the SIHA team in Wau. He or she will actively participate and represent the organization in various networks meeting in Wau or other parts of South Sudan. The PO is expected to coordinate all training and community outreach activities, identify expertise and partnership that would consolidate the quality of SIHA’s South Sudan programme. Abilities of documentation and reporting are essential in this position.
Profile:
The candidate for this post must have a background in political science, law or any relevant discipline and/ or a combination of experiences not less than 4 years in conducting social development project implementation and coordination of large multiyear projects in a social development or human rights arenas. The candidate should have knowledge and experience working in South Sudan and in particular gender relations and social norms in complex political contexts. The candidate will have demonstrable experience conducting donor reporting and donor liaison and have solid social and political analysis skills.
The candidate will have strong people management skills and be able to mobilise community members and ensure participation in activities. They will also have experience in recruiting with relevant consultants and competencies in developing networks of suitable contacts and maintaining good relationships with key project partners and stakeholders.
A commitment to women rights and the principles of gender equality, respect and interest in social movement, is essential. SIHA will be interested in individual applicants with commitment to indigenous civil society organizations.
Knowledge of more than one of the local languages in South Sudan is an asset
