Juba, November 6, 2022 (SSNA) — A new report released by the United Nations says nearly 8 million South Sudanese will face acute food insecurity and that 1.4 million children will be malnourished in 2023.
The warning comes as floods forced at least a million people to flee their homes.
The report declares that food scarcity is caused by a lack of funding and urges donors to assist.
On its part, the World Food Program (WFP) reveals that South Sudan is already under what it describes as “famine prevention mode” as two-thirds of the population is likely face hunger next year.
The government of South Sudan calls on the United Nations and other humanitarian organizations to save lives.
