Dear Governor -Elect, Col. Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro Governor of Western Equatoria State

Sir,

April 27, 2010 (London, United Kingdom) — On behalf of the United South Sudan Party (USSP), I would like to offer you my warmest congratulations on your election as the new governor of Western Equatoria State (WES).

During the election campaign and on successive polling days, we witnessed the WES people’s commitment to democratic values and its determination to continue on the path of democratic reform, even though the elections did witness a lot of obstacles.

The WES and the South Sudan in general faces many challenges in the coming years. The most outstanding is the referendum for the self determination scheduled for January 2011. There is also an urgent need for decisive action to tackle the other key issues like security, poverty, food production, and underdevelopment in the joint interest of securing a better life for all the citizens of the state.

USSP will stand by your Excellency in these endeavours. We appreciate the obvious challenge that you have taken upon yourself to run for this post, the highest in the state in response to the calls of the grassroots for a better administration where our people can realize their dreams of living a peaceful and productive life.

USSP looks forward to working closely with you to strengthen our relationship further and to address together the many common challenges that face the people of WES and other parts of south Sudan.

I wish you every success in your new role as the Governor of Western Equatoria State. Please accept, dear Mr. Governor, the assurance of my highest consideration.

Long live the choice of the people.
Long live United Western Equatoria State.
Long live United South Sudan.

God bless South Sudan.

Yours sincerely,

Clement J. Mbugoniwia
Leader, United South Sudan Party
