Dear President Elect, Salva Kiir Mayardit,

April 27, 2010 (London, UK) — The United South Sudan Party (USSP) takes this opportunity to congratulate your Excellency for your victory in the general elections. Your election to this high office of the government of South Sudan (GoSS), carries with it   hope  for millions of our country men and women as much as it is for those millions of those who still reside in the “Diaspora”.

USSP hopes that your election to the Presidency of the GoSS will indeed contribute significantly to efforts of peace building in the south, the Sudan and the whole continent of Africa by continuing to see the full and timely implementation of the remaining aspects of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA).

USSP also hopes that your second term in office should strife hard to help bring about the   change our people look forward to and   to create a better life for all. Accordingly, south Sudan today stands at a cross roads and can only hope for your leadership at these critical moments to unite its different people and political groups under an inclusive umbrella to facilitate a sure cross over into the Promised Land.

USSP looks forward to a fruitful working relationship with you both at bilateral and multilateral levels in an endeavour to create a better south Sudan for all.

USSP expresses the hope that insecurity, good governance, poverty and under-development in south Sudan which remains a challenge for our people will indeed continue to receive a greater attention of the focus of the new administration.

USSP looks forward to working with you, Your Excellency, in the consolidation of the strategic bilateral political relationship between the two political parties with the common interest of the people of south Sudan at heart. We believe that the coming period should be much dedicated to the holding of the referendum on the south Sudan’s self determination that will see peaceful end to the CPA, and start a new era of an independent and prosperous south Sudan nation.

Last but not least, we wish you, your Excellency, a fruitful and healthy life during your tenure as President of the government of South Sudan.

God bless South Sudan. Yours sincerely,

Clement J. Mbugoniwia
Leader, United South Sudan Party
