Dr. Lam Akol: No Sugarcoating!!

By Luk Kuth Dak

November 20, 2012 (SSNA) — As those of you who follow me on my column may have noticed that, in the last few months, I have been trying hard to stick with my self-imposed writing drought about the “Jallaba Golden Boys” JGBs. I thought, mistakenly, that it was the right time and place to hold back a little in an effort to allow them an ample time they needed to repent their predacious acts, open dialogue with the Sudan People’ Liberation Movement SPLM, so that they may be re-embraced into the society, despite their ignominious departure.

But when our national security is under attack, and predator Lam Akol poke his fingers in the eyes of our people and slammed the door shut on any chance for reconciliation, I thought that was a good of a reason to resume writing temporarily.

More to the point, as a South Sudanese citizen, have you ever wonder as to why talented, gifted scholars, intellectuals such as Lam Akol, Riek Gai Kok and others act the way they act? Or, what drives them to be madly in love with materials over people, become unpatriotic, unfaithful, betrayers, dishonest and disloyal?

We need you to weigh in.

But as I can see it, I believe it all boils down to greed and egoism to say the least. As long as the mighty dollar effuses into their nests from Khartoum and other Arab countries, we shouldn’t expect the JGBs predators to call it quits.

The worst came during Lam’s pilgrimage to the Muslim Brotherhood pals in Egypt. And in case you want me to refresh your memory, the Muslim Brotherhood organization has in recently moths publicly admitted its role in the Sudan’s civil wars, and the subsequent cold-blooded murder of over two million innocent South Sudanese citizens. Yet, that was not powerful enough to persuade the JGBs.

While enjoying himself among friends and allies in Cairo, Dr. Lam wasted little or no time to shower the government of the Republic of South Sudan with accusation after accusation of corruption among other unquotable adjectives.

Lam talking about corruption? Don’t make me hurt myself laughing. Before he throws allegations… which were nothing but fabrications, insinuations, suppositions and blatant falsehood about the situation in the RSS, he ought to make public the list of the donors to his party.

Not only that. Dr. Lam Akol hammered the Jewish State of Israel, a traditional alley and a long time friend of the people of South Sudan. “We cannot afford to have bilateral relations with Israel at the expense of our neighbors in the Arab world,” he disgorged.

Really!

That statement is strikingly similar to the one that was made a few years ago by my friend, Dr. Riek Gai Kok, in which said: “South Sudan is a part and parcel of the Arab and Islamic nation.” The central question is: What can we really emulate from the Arab countries, whose only export is terrorism? On the other hand, we have nothing to lose but everything to gain having bilateral relations with Israel, a country that is rated at the number tenth among the most powerful nations in world, economically, technologically, militarily or otherwise.

All that is taking place while our people can only watch some of their brightest sons turn them into a prey. It’s self-evident that Lam and the rest of the JGBs are in desperate need of some Soule searching, or maybe, just maybe take a break to think everything through, even if it’s only for the sake of the future of their children and grandchildren.

There is a great country in South Sudan that’s waiting for them to redeem. It’s never too late when there is will.
