Constructive criticism is needed In South Sudan, please don’t slack off!!

May 27, 2013 (SSNA) — Philips of Macedonia, the father of Alexander the great once said, an army of deer led by a lion is more to be feared than an army of lions led by deer. That may be true. But I believe that; An Army of lions led by a lion is to be feared most of all.

In addition, a famous politician once said, the longer the title the less important the job. If that’s true, then there are many people in South Sudan who’re working behind the scène, without acknowledgment from neither, their leaders nor the public. I am convinced that at the heart of every successful organization is a title less persons, just workaholics to get the job done, and do it well to the best of their abilities.

Virtually, a title is not a job description, when it comes to true power, titles are frequently misleading, even at the level of the most high ranking officials, while a respected employee with a lower title can wield significant influence on what others do and how quickly they do it. Influence or inspiration comes from the person, and not the position or family background.

However, my personal experience as a customer service representative in my entire career as a Banker for more than two decades back home and abroad, I can relate to the principle that goes; “we can’t help them all, but one at a time”.  Let our confidence in our leaders be solid and unshakable so that they may be able to do what we all expect of them to deliver to the public. Let’s do the clearheaded decision, it’s may give them some of a roadmap!

Furthermore, the worse case scenario that may happen to our leaders in South Sudan is to exhaust their intellectual capital. They must constantly refresh themselves by gathering new information by accepting constructive criticisms from the public, thinking critically and consistently for what’s best for our new born nation.

Once again, yes, there are some real challenges ahead, but with our unconditional support, those problems could be solved very easily through constructive criticism and faultfinding, and must be humbly undergo by them “the leaders”.

In my life time’s experience, I significantly observe that it’s important to motivate others, to keep the fires of passion and commitment continue burning. Do you know the number one reason why people quit their jobs? Is lack of appreciation? Everyone wants to feel significant and to be recognized for what they do, therefore, we should always encourage and thank our leaders for any little things they achieved, instead of cursing, and calling them names. Thus, when they do an outstanding job, they deserved some kind of recognitions, and let them know. That way they will win our trust, and we will boost their energies and lift their morals.

Don’t quote me wrong, am not suggesting that our leaders should have a free ride, hell no. But, we have our constitutional rights to criticize them in a constructive way that; leading to improvements.

Unfortunately, most people would rather complain than contribute to a solution. The truth is everyone has a good idea. Our problem isn’t the lack of ideas, but, is a lack of putting those ideas into practice for our nation building. As the old phrase goes; “deeds are louder than words” that’s the bottom line.

When it’s comes to problem solving in today complex world, complete solutions are Usually rare, there isn’t a single ground answer to all problems, but many answers that require the contribution of many different people or parties- always remember, spotting a problem is easy, but solving a problem is harder. Ample and adequate time is essential to make a decision. Therefore, we must develop tolerance and perseverance to deny a safe haven to any groups threatening the unity and prosperity of our beloved country.

In conclusion, wherever you are, you should not let bullying stops you. Whenever you seek to make change, you always encounter resistance, whether from a spouse, an employee members or co-workers. There is always a head wind facing, and those who move confidently forward.

My friend; don’t confused resume skills with leadership skills. The greatest satisfaction often comes from meeting challenges head-on, anyone, anywhere can make a positive difference in the process of our nation building.

Therefore, you don’t need a title to be a leader.
