Mass Killing in the United Nations Compound in Jonglei

Bor, April 17, 2014 (SSNA) — Armed Youth alleged to come from Bor community had on Thursday stormed UNMISS compound in Bor, the capital of Jonglei State, killing women and children from the Nuer ethnic group.

At least 43 civilians have been killed when the United Nations Peacekeepers failed to block the heavily armed angry youths, Eyewitnesses told the South Sudan News Agency.

The UN has confirmed the killings and stated that an official statement regarding the incident will be issued.

The motive behind the killings of unarmed civilians is yet to be determined.
