Addis Ababa, October 15, 2014 (SSNA) — Rebel forces loyal to the South Sudanese Former Vice president Dr. Riek Machar have killed at least two Ugandan Tank Drivers, according to the military spokesman of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army-in Opposition (SPLA-O), Brig. Gen. Lul Ruai Koang.
The name of Ugandan female soldier killed is Awori Verorine, according to the Identification card (ID) released to the media; she was killed in Zinc battle.
The ID appears to have been issued to the dead soldier by the Association of the Ugandan Community in Southern Sudan (AUCSS). The identification card also bears both flags of Uganda and South Sudan, with Ugandan flag on the right and South Sudanese flag on the left.
South Sudan’s rebels have last week accused Uganda of deploying its troops to all States of South Sudan, Kampala disputed the allegation.
The South Sudanese rebels’ military spokesperson, Koang, further stated that the anti-government forces have captured modern AKM-47 assault rifles, rocket propelled grenade launchers, among others.
Heavy fighting broke out late last week in the oil-rich Upper Nile State between forces of South Sudan’s warring factions with both side accusing the other of violating the January 2014 ceasefire.
