US asks IGAD to release South Sudan’s ceasefire violations “as soon as possible”

Juba, April 13, 2018 (SSNA) — The United States has asked the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) to release all documented reports of December 2017 ceasefire violations.

The demand comes as South Sudan’s warring factions prepared to resume the revitalization talks in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa next week.

A senior US official who refused to be named in the report told IGAD that the United States wants to see all the December 2017 ceasefire violations that were documented by the East African regional bloc, IGAD.

“We would like to see IGAD support CTSAMM to function as intended, which would include its release of all reports on cease-fire violations as soon as possible,” the official said.

The report indicated that Ethiopia’s foreign minister, Workneh Gebeyehu, refused to comment on the new development.

The South Sudan News Agency (SSNNA) cannot independently verify the report. However, one senior South Sudan’s government official who asked his name not to be used in the report told the SSNA that Juba has received the message and that some “serious issues” are being discussed.

“Yes, we know what is going on, so we are weighing our options and we are still discussing these serious issues,” the official confirmed.

South Sudanese main rebel movement, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army-In Opposition (SPLM/A-IO), has in the past accused IGAD of working on behalf of South Sudan’s government, saying “the regional bloc is only implementing Juba’s interests and ignores SPLM/A-IO’s interests.”

Even if US has given an order or asked IGAD but what we need in South Sudan this time is PEACE!!!!!, because all south Sudanese has tired of war, the number of population has decreased with higher number, we lost so many people!! And We are spraying all over the world like we don’t have a country!! And I have a question, why African countries are not happy today? And why high percentage of hunger, malnutrition, poverty are found in Africa ? If You look at these questions!! There are big problem behind them!!! But it’s over today we need peace in South Sudan.

    • Peace will never come to South Sudan if the country maintains the same status quo. The system of government and the people running it are so rotten that for peace to prevail, they should either be removed or jailed. Peace does not grow on trees; it has to be cultivated by men and women of integrity.

If the people of south Sudan were to be asked about who or whichever country should mediate our problem, then the better and peace would have come. Now let the world know that what the region is doing is a business project on the expencies of the poor citizens

  • Dear Ones, yes I would say that such attention is worth praising. With the Knowledge Lord has given me and I know full well that South Sudan issue will consume a lot of energies inside and outside. It will not until everyone turn to seek for solution of this nation. Yes, let me remember everyone your healing is connected this piece of land. The future welfare of the world will surely be guaranteed when this conflict is finally settled. You will be able to verify my claim later it is too soon for all of you to believe this but I know all this things because I am very much connected to this things that happening and am very well will be the final solution. When The Lord brings me to your attention. Yes, it is a punishment in some way but it is a blessing in genesis you will come to know this later why the end of it is a blessing rather than a cursing.

    • To be honest all this mess in our country can be seriously blame on Salva Kiir administration and his trible elite. They have taken the country hosted without any development, 20 billion dollars given for the development has been diverted into individual pocket. The country is being run as if only dinka who are in South Sudan, 85% of government employed are all from one tribes. Is that what we call a government or democracy society? We fought the Arab for such ideology but how come after we won the battle other want to reverse to other tribes. Peace will only come if Jieng realise to work with together otherwise the fire will keep burning until the coming of the Lord. IGAD are not a mediator they government friend.

Though these cases are given to Trump’s government, I don’t think Trump will take immediate action on the violaters. Sanctions were imposed on some leaders but up to now they’re still free in their unlawful actions.

  • Our problem is Kirr ,Uganda government, and Kenya government, this war created by criminals Kirr become a big business of beneficial for Uganda and Kenya, that is why this two countries are supporting Kirr rotten government to continue for their own benefit, the only thing for president Trump and his administration to do is to stop Uganda government and Kenya government from doing business with mr criminals Kirr government, second to stop all oil companies in south Sudan, and shut down the oil fields until peace comes to the people of south Sudan.

It looks so unrealistic in the way that people behind the scene are capable of this remedy.
Consequently, the longer peace is taken to be achieved the more Suffering will Daily important issue.
It’s again obvious that minus removing the current regime south Sudan will not attain peace.

  • Like it! Anyway let’s see how will it play out, the innocence way, placed in tragic, by th S Sudan tribal warlords administration, since 2016, or the higher way? Hopefully it ends, IGAD poor meditating performance., and the two power struggle mongering country wrestlers? Whom, all of a sudden had dragged the whole S Sudan, to a total disaster in 2016. where both sides harshely forced all, to join their (2013 -2015) war of the split SPLA /m Kiir(Dinka) vs Machar & Taban (Nuer) ; fighting for power struggle. Nevertheless in disrespect and undermined to the vast majority 62 S Sudan tribes. So the two could escape or walk away free, from the hybrid court accountability set eventually to atrocities, and war crimes against humanity plus, the later genocide in G Equtoria that’s yet unaccounted for; than the first, as stipulated, in the two men 2015’s peace deal.
Anyway, the stone minded bloody, often time need a man of action, for the suffering innocence like those in S. Sudan, to have peace and stability. Trust commender in shief, President Trumpt, can assist fixing it in the days to come…

Even if America administration asked IGAD to present a document on ceasefire violations since December 2017, IGAD will never give any because it’s only became a business of earning incomes iGAD is not in position to mediate peace in this country because it has part where it inclined to.

Pleas IGAD never forgets the Governor of Amadi State in your report because of repeatedly violating the cease-fire agreement signed in December 2017. He should be at the top of your list.
If his Name is not on your list it means your report is not honest.
