Juba, May 10, 2018 (SSNA) — South Sudan’s government has accused the United States of being “a real obstacle” to peace in the young nation, according to a statement released by Salva Kiir.

Kiir also alleges that recent US threat to end its financial assistance to South Sudan is a prove of Washington interference in Juba’s affairs.

The accusation comes barely two days after the United States announced it will review South Sudan assistance. Kiir claims that US action could derail the upcoming peace revitalization talks scheduled to take place next week in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

The United States has so far donated $3.2bn in humanitarian assistance to South Sudan since the civil war broke out, making it the largest single donor.
