Kampala/Juba, June 11, 2018 (SSNA) — The United States has called on East African governments to stop South Sudanese government officials from using their capitals as places to hide war money, saying Uganda must tell South Sudan that exploitation of the young nation wealth is not welcome in Kampala.

The United States’ Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, Sigal Mandelker, calls on the regional leaders to tighten ways that allow South Sudan’s government officials to hide war money in their countries.

The move comes as the American President Donald J. Trump steps up pressure on the east African nations to bring an end South Sudan’s civil war.

It is widely believed in South Sudan that senior government officials looted hundred of millions of dollars and buy expensive buildings in Uganda and Kenya.
