Juba/Addis Ababa, November 24, 2018 (SSNA) — A South Sudanese news editor has lambasted South Sudan’s tycoon Lawrence Lual Malong Yor Junior over what he described as “shameful behavior” shown by the young tycoon. The editor compares the tycoon with a mafia boss who proudly robbed a financial institution.

Duop Chak Wuol, the editor-in-chief of the South Sudan news Agency (SSNA), posted a message on his Facebook wall on Saturday, criticizing the self-proclaim rich man and questions whether Lawrence still believes Jesus did in fact blesses him with the wealth as he claimed in a Kenyan-based Citizen television interview. Duop says Lawrence’s wealth is “questionable.”

“I am not quite sure what was in Jesus’ mind when South Sudan’s proud thief, Lawrence Lual Malong Yor Junior, was arrested by the Ugandan intelligence agents in Milano Hotel. Perhaps, his Lord, Jesus Christ, is not happy about the fact that Lawrence cites him as a source of his massive questionable wealth,” Duop wrote.

The news editor also says the self-declared rich man has publicly been behaving like a mafia boss who just robbed a major corporation and proud of it.

“This man has been constantly exercising rather shameful behavior after he plundered enough for himself while ordinary South Sudanese are struggling every day just to survive. Maybe his arrest by the Ugandan intelligence unit will take away some of his dangerous arrogance,” adding, “Lawrence has been behaving like a mafia boss who robbed a major financial corporation and proud of it.”

In October, Lawrence was interviewed by Citizen TV’s Jeff Koinange. In the interview, Lawrence bragged about his wealth and claimed that the reason he is so rich is because his God, Jesus, blessed him. Lawrence also talked about his pricy watch, shoes, his hotel costs, and his use of a private jet. The interview quickly drew harsh criticisms from South Sudanese, with some people calling for the tycoon to be persecuted.

Lawrence was arrested by Ugandan intelligence agents on or about November 14 in Milano Hotel. The Ugandan government has confirmed to the South Sudan News Agency that the tycoon was in fact detained by Ugandan external security branch, but declined to give details of his detainment.

Most South Sudanese believe Lawrence got his wealth when Paula Malong Awan who is widely believed in South Sudan as his grandfather was the Chief Staff of South Sudan’s army. Lawrence has also been exposed by numerous international anti-corruption institutions, directly linking his wealth to Paul Malong.

  • I think this is the evidence of massive corruption in South Sudan. This man who claim richest too arrogant in Kenya must be deported back to South Sudan and his massive billions dollars must be question before returning back to South Sudan’s bank, because it was too soon and even too quick for him to show such amount of money while, the people don’t know how he get money from and I belief thousand people in Juba have been hiding hundred of billions dollars within Juba city. The houses of corruptions people in Juba and neighbors countries around South Sudan are full with such amount of billions dollars. Also I was told by others friends who have knowledge about how they gets money from: According to one of the hearsay, he said that, there are criminal people who fake South Sudanese pound with amounts of hundred of billions and they took these fake South Sudanese pounds to South Sudan so that, they can make changed with U.S dollar and this is one way for those who gets rich overnight.
I do blame Kenya’s government for not monitoring these criminal people who made fake money in Kenya country and send them to court. Any way, the Son of Chief Lual Malong Yor must be deport back home South Sudan, so that he will explain to authority on how he get billions dollars from?
