Juba, January 16, 2019 (SSNA) — Military leaders of the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) and the Sudan People’s Liberation Army-In Opposition (SPLA-IO) have warned the National Salvation Front (NAS) of consequences if refuses to accept peace, saying the group is threatening the September revitalized peace agreement.

In a news conference in Juba, SPLA-IO Deputy Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. James Koang Chuol Ranley and SSPDF General Chief of Staff Gabriel Jok Riak criticized NAS leader Thomas Cirillo for refusing to sign the deal and urge him to accept peace or face military actions.

“Cirillo is not a big threat but is a big threat because we are for peace,” James Koang said, adding, “He is not a big threat in terms of forces.”

Meanwhile SSPDF Chief of Staff accuses the NAS of being against the peace in the country.

“He is a threat to peace and agreement,” Gabriel Jok declared.

The SSPDF chief also accuses Cirillo of looting property and raping of women. The two military leaders further call on the East African region, African Union, and the internal community to put maximum pressure on the National Salvation Front.

SSDF & SPLA-IO Leaders should not mislead the south sudanese and the entire region by branding the SSOA leadership who want issues related to justice, equality , good governce, , addresing of route causes of the civil war, federal system ; since the current one failed to yield any fruits to the citizen in order to avoid no return to such a useless , to threat to peace in reverse. It’s the SSDF GOVERNMENT AND SPLA-IO who are not open in perusing peace for the country

I think is to dialogue with Thomas Cirillo than give bad speech in the media. SP LA-IO should understand that the rebel can not be defeated. the generals who are talking in the media will follow Thomas if the peace does fulfill their need. NAS will never accept peace which raw that is to say it is address the system of federalism in the Country.

    • I want to assure our leaders that, we have come from far distance and achieve South Sudan independents in 2011, it should be time to rest and preparation, after then we can to continue till we achieve our goal or vision as SPLM/A southerners we are now killing each other, killing our children, mothers, and this suffering will not stop if the our current government system is not change,

  • 😂😂😂😂This is funny, this was not a threat to you guys when you are killing one another and destroying everything in your path. On many occassions you guys even refused to sign peace agreement so if another person does not see things in the stupid agreement you signed relevant to them then it becomes a threat to peace even though the person is not killing anyone?
