October 14, 2019 (SSNA) — The purpose of this article is to congratulate Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali for winning 2019 Alfred Nobel Peace Prize and demonstrate the type of leadership style new world order required. In today’s societies, the quality leadership this modern world required is a kind of leader who has the ability to create positive change within the organization. The goal of the leader is not to depend on their solo decisions, rather, their goal is to ensure that best decisions are being made at all levels. A leader with an engaged team will benefit from a more diverse analysis of challenging situations and will be more likely to make the right call. Thus, team building, empowerment, and trust with a willingness to listen to suggestions with an open mind are signs of prescient leadership.

Hence, it is important to recognized today’s leaders are not glorified for championing destructions, wars, and intense hatred among people. They are praised and glorified because of their willingness to do the right thing to all people without distinction. We can emphasis herein, leadership is the art of giving people a platform for spreading ideas that influence, inspire, and promote harmony among their followers and help to solve any conflict that may occur.

These leadership qualities had been seen in Dr. Abiy Ahmed in his tenure as an Ethiopian Prime Minister. Precisely, Dr. Abiy has been only on power for one year and five months, while taking the torch, Dr. Abiy introduced drastic change in Ethiopia political sphere. His radical changes or reforms which include, ending the State of Emergency that former Prime Minister Desalegn had imposed on the country in response to the widespread protest, freeing political prisoners, open up dialogue with domestic political parties, tour Ethiopia regional States, especially areas that were affected the most during anti-government demonstrations, normalizing relations with Eritrea President Isaias Afwerki, and finally paying visits to African regional and international countries, had been so bold and inspiring peace-loving people around the globe.

Ironically, these actions generate jubilation among Ethiopians, the whole continent of Africa, and the world at large. His message for reconciliation, peace, forgiveness, change, democracy and the rule of law iron out grudges dissatisfied individual Ethiopians held against previous administration and touched the heart of many people around the world. Moreover, Dr. Abiy appoints more women to serve in his administration more than any leader who led Ethiopia before. Those actions among others drew Dr. Abiy closer to international community attention and landed him to the door of Nobel Peace Prize-winning.

In today’s world, actions that promote peace, tranquility, mutual understanding among societies, the acceptance of all as equal regardless of race, religion, gender, and national origin, are the only contemporary international compulsory requirements of human relations.

Whoever does not recognize them, are deemed evildoers who are not worthy of anything, other than crucifixion or hanging. The new world order does not recognized warmongers, who segregate people base on their ethnicities. Current human belief indicates that all humans are created equal before God and the law. There is no person or persons who could proclaim that they are superior, wiser, and naturally gifted more than others for the reason that, God almighty has given all human beings the same intelligence quotients (IQ).

Base on the said belief, good leaders are required to embrace the concept of democracy and harmony. There is no democracy without equality. Equality between humans needs only a leader’s numerous leadership characteristics. The challenge of the leadership is to be strong, but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not bully be thoughtful, but not lazy: be humble, but not timid: be proud, but not arrogant; have humor but without folly.

Though there is no leader who inherent all leadership qualities, Dr. Abiy has shown many qualities a leader who leads by example should inherent. Dr. Abiy’s message of unity in diversity and revival of “Ethiopianism” have created sustainable trust between Ethiopian ethnic groups. This culminates involuntary resettlement schemes of many Ethiopian diasporas. Dr. Abiy Naissance administration made an enormous effort to reintegrate many political dissidents. That move illustrates the degeneration of politics that is conducive and safer to all citizens. This is the type of leadership in today’s world order required. The quality of the leader dictates the quality of the institution; an institution can improve if the leader continues to improve.

In order for one to become a great change leader, you need to connect with people authentically and be real with them about what change means and how it happens. When change gets bumpy, the leader can empower their subordinates and assure them for a good outcome. Leadership is essential to guide innovation for improved outcomes and collaboration that aim to achieve share practices. It is required to create a sustainable culture of safety, reduce errors, and keep the country or the communities safe whenever crises arise.

In summing, one would like to express his sincere congratulation to Dr. Abiy Ahmed for winning the Nobel Peace Prize. You truly deserve to win the Nobel Peace Prize given your transformational leadership and effort to strive for peace and stability not only in Ethiopia but the whole of East Africa. As your exemplary leadership has now been recognized in the wider world, you must be expected to do more in peacebuilding, may God continue to use you more to bring more wonders not only to Ethiopia and Africa but the whole wider world. May God bless you abundantly, congratulations!
