Eritrea invests $289 million in South Sudan’s electric plant

Juba, November 21, 2019 (SSNA) — The Eritrean-based Ezra Group has invested $289 million dollars in a South Sudan’s power project based int eh capital, Juba.

The nation’s first electricity grid and power distribution system was launched on November 21 in Juba.

The South Sudan News Agency (SSNA) understands that the project was and still being funded by Ezra Group, an electric company widely speculated to be backed by the Eritrean government.

The company managing director, Ghebrengu Ezra, states that the first phase of 30 megawatts is capable of supplying electricity to at least 50,000 residents in Juba.
