Pope Francis to visit South Sudan

Juba, December 25, 2020 (SSNA) — Pope Francis says he will visit South Sudan as soon as possible. On Thursday, the Pope delivered his 2020 Christmas message, saying he is prepared to visit South Sudan and Lebanon.

The Vatican says South Sudan has been in Pope’s prayers for some time.

In April 2019, Pope Francis invited South Sudanese rival leaders and stunned the world when he knelt and kissed the feet their feet on live television.

The South Sudan News Agency (SSNA) was told by a senior government official that Juba was informed of the announcement and that South Sudan in collaboration with the Vatican is working tirelessly to pick a date for the Pope’s visit.
