Juba, November 1, 2022 (SSNA) — Pope Francis is expected to visit the Republic of South Sudan in February 2023, a source with Catholic Dioceses of South Sudan who does not wants his name to be revealed because he was not authorized to talk to the media told the South Sudan News Agency on Tuesday.

“We have received information from the Vatican, he is coming next February,” the source discloses, adding, “all the Dioceses are being informed for preparations.”

The Pope was initially scheduled to visit South Sudan in July this year. However, the trip was postponed ill-related issues and the Vatican later revealed that Pope Francis has knee problems.

In April 2019, Pope Francis stunned the world by kissing the feet of South Sudanese leaders at a Vatican retreat where he urged them to implement the revitalized peace agreement.
