Juba, November 8, 2022 (SSNA) — The United Nations Under-Secretary-General for peace Jean-Pierre Lacroix praised principal signatories of the 2018 revitalized peace agreement, saying the parties to peace have shown positive steps forward.

In a statement released by the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), Lacroix calls on the South Sudanese leaders to continue peace execution.

“There have been positive steps forward in the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement, but much more needs to be done,” he says.

South Sudan peace faces many obstacles with the main two parties (SPLM and SPLM-IO) often accusing each other of violating the pact.
