SSHURSA again calls for resignation of the Ministers of Security and Interior, welcomes FBI presence in Juba, urges for urgent, impartial and full investigations, Condemns violence in Wau:
Juba, December 24, 2012 (SSNA) — The South Sudan Human Rights Society for Advocacy (SSHURSA) in a strongest terms possble once again calls for the resignation of General Oyai Deng Ajak, the Minister of Security in the Office of the President and General Alison Magaya, the Minister of Interior. Since the formation of the government of the Republic of South Sudan, the two Ministers have virtually failed to protect the lives and property of the people of South Sudan from the controllable organized killings and crimes.
“The assassination of Isaiah Abraham is a manifestation of uncovered failure, so to speak, constitutionally, the two gentle men if they have conscience which they respect, should have honourably resigned from their positions on the very first day when they heard of the assassination of Isaiah Abraham. The logic is very simple, the death of the late was in manner that we strongly believe was a state-managed and organized assassination, therefore, the two Ministers by virtue of their offices are in control of Internal & External National Security organs and Law Enforcement agencies respectively which are tasked by the Constitution to protect the people countrwide. Thus, it is in the interest of justice to allow free investigations that the two Honourable Ministers hit this call and resign immediately since they have failed the public and unless they show a cause of why they should not resign which I doubt they have” Said Biel Boutros Biel, the Executive Director of SSHURSA. “The murder of brother Isaiah Abraham plus many more human rights violations including enforced disappearances of persons and arbitrary detentions without trials by the state and its agents clearly shows a regime without conscience”. Biel added. “Where on earth a cabinet of ministers believes that 70% as assasination the death of one of its own; Isaiah Abraham, and yet its security ministers still have a pride to remain in their offices without resigning, don’t they have consciense?” Biel wondered. “We in SSHURSA find this unbelievable act as a practical manifestation of a government that has forgotten the freedom values for which its leadership had fought for and millions of lives were sacrificed. In our view, the two ministers being adamant to resign confirms our country’s leadership devoid of ethics and neither the adherence to the rule of law. This is too much and the government through evil acts done with impunity by its agencies on the innocent people, shows that it learned nothing from injustices and sufferings the Arabs had imposed on South Sudan for over 40 years and the same government we have long hoped for has equally, shamefully turned to do the very same evils inflicted on our people by the successive dictatorial regimes of Khartoum and against which South Sudan stood” Biel further added.
SSHURSA also welcomes to Juba the USA Federal Investigations Bureau team. The presence of FBI in Juba is a great step towards hopeful investigations as to who among the state agents killed Isaiah Abraham on December 5th 2012, in Juba. SSHURSA calls upon the President of South Sudan His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit to ensure that FBI is accorded full co-operation to do its work and that it is important that the FBI does its work without any interference from the state or any powerful individuals in the security agencies. It is in the greatest interest of justice that urgent, free, impartial and full investigations are carried out to establish the true identities of the assasins. SSHURSA hopes that findings shall be made available to public as soon as possible and the assassins are speedily brought to court to face the long arm of the law.
The murder of Isaiah Abraham remains a big blow in the fight against evils which are consuming up South Sudan but SSHURSA will fight on till justice is achieved for the late. The questions remain; who killed him? Where are his assassins and when are they going to be brought to justice and be convicted? The answers to these questions lie with the South Sudan’s leadership and as always as it shall be, SSHURSA will continue asking these questions until the authorities answer them in affirmative.
SSHURSA also in strongest terms possible condemns the violence in Wau town, Western Bahr El Ghazal state and urges the state and national governments to put in place immediate lawful measures to protect the lives of the citizens and amicably resolve the mess among the people in Wau town.
Once again, SSHURSA sends condolences to the family of the late and calls upon the public to remain calm while answers are being awaited from the Government of South Sudan. As we have long promised from day one when Isaiah Abraham was murdered, SSHURSA will fight on until justice is achieved for the family of the late. Nothing will change this stance except the production of the assassins of Isaiah Abraham by the state and are convicted thereof.
