Re: The Thiang Nuer Community have successfully organized on 3th of July, 2015 in Phow state, Old Fangak, celebrated and welcomed their newly created Fangak South County and the appointment of Mr. Isaac Tut Machar Biet as its first Commissioner
July 6, 2015 (SSNA) — Basically, they organized the celebrations mainly to:
The occasion was cheerfully celebrated by thousands of people from the Thinag Community and was as well attended by different clans’ members from different works of life across South Sudan. The community, Thiang Nuer, has also with all their hearts appreciated during the ceremony and compliments, the leadership of the SPLM/A-IO under Dr. Riek Machar Teny for having created the federal Phow state, inter alia, Fangak South County for Thinag Nuer Community.
In his speech during the ceremony, Peter Keak Beiy, the current Fangak South county Education interim Director spoke about the challenges facing the education especially after the civil war which had engulfed the country since 2013. “There are no enough teachers to teach the children, no available school materials, there are no enough classrooms, not even incentives for few teachers who have volunteered themselves to teach”. For these reasons he “called upon all educational and international agencies, like UNICEF and the rest who are supporting the education to speed up and step in against an illiteracy which is everywhere”. Latjor Gatluak a traditional sub-chiefs’ representative congratulated the Thiang Community first because it is same community from which the deputy Governor of Phow state comes, “I think all congratulations must go to Thiang community because they are given a county of their own under the Phow federal state and their dear son, Brig Gen. Johnson Kuol Gai won the hearts of the whole state people and SPLM leadership’s confidence that was why he became a Deputy Governor of Phow State“
Thomson Not, a SPLM former Secretary in the defunct Fangak County also spoke to the crowd saying: “The appointment of Johnson Kuol as Deputy Governor done by the SPLM leadership was a result of much contribution exerted by Brig Gen. Johnson Kuol Gai in a fight against organized injustice, crimes imposed on South Sudanese by Salva Kiir Mayardit. The creation of twenty one (21+1) federal states in South Sudan will not only bring the people of South Sudan to what they have been searching for since, or before ,1947 but also shall make the Africa newest nation develop very rapidly”.
Mr. Bol Khor Nyang , otherwise known as Shiek Gibril, who spoke on behalf of the Nuer Community said: “The Nuer community in general and Bieh state/Lou Nuer people in particular congratulated and join the Thiang Nuer Community of Fangak South County in these celebrations or in this welcoming ceremony. Fangak was a unique place for Nuer people, a town for this clan of Nuer tribe, so it was fixed by our grand-grand fathers to be a Nuer Customary Law Center. Now again it happens, the Thiang Nuer Community has a loin share in our resistant movement being led by Dr. Riek Machar against the dictatorship in Juba; therefore, the Thiang Nuer should continue working for the sole interest of Nuer Community. The Naath community has no doubt about that! I think Mr. Isaac Tut Machar Biet, the Fangak South County’s Commissioner here in Old Fangak, Brig Gen. Johnson Kuol Gai in the state level won’t work only for the interest of Thiang Nuer clan alone but for all communities’ who made up the state like Gawaar , Lak and Padang Dinka community of greater Pigi area”, he concluded.
One of the Thiang Nuer Head chiefs and Chairman of the Thiang Nuer Community in the county, Mr. Gordon Koang Top closed the occasion by giving sincere remarkable thanks to all the participants and promised them that the Thiang Nuer Community has keenly noted the messages and so the community will continue working for Naath Community as well as South Sudanese’s interests everywhere every times. “The Thiang Nuer Community as a first born-clan, situated in the meet point of Nuer tribe, has all due obligations to serve an overall interest of Naath Community and that of South Sudan as a nation as well”
