SPLM-IO chapter in Kenya elects new leaders

Nairobi, March 7, 2016 (SSNA) — SPLM chapter in Kenya last Saturday elected new Country coordinator and deputy coordinator.

The Kenyan-based chapter elected its new leadership in a successful function chaired by its outgoing coordinator, Hon. Mary Nyabeil Simon, supervised by Amb. Lam Chuol Jock, acting head of mission in Kenya, Justice Simon Maar Reath, council’s members voted Hon. Jago Adongjak as coordinator, and Hon. Anne Nyahok as deputy.

The election which was conducted on Saturday morning was heavily attended by SPLM council’s members who successfully voted for their leaders and witnessed them sworn in at same function.

Members from Justice’s National committee led By Justice Simon Maar Reath presided over the swearing ceremony.

In a press statement sent to media houses, the chapter’s information secretary, Aborcup J. Akuer Maze, praises the process and calls it “democratic”.

“The process of Hon. Jago Adongjak and his deputy, Anne Nyahok coming to offices is clean and very democratic,” Stated Aborcup J. Akuer.

Hon. Mary Nyabeil Simon who was appointed to would be National Transitional Assembly was elected to office in October last year. She had held the office since then till her appointment to the National Assembly in the upcoming transition government of South Sudan.

In her last remarks at Saturday’s function, Hon. Mary appreciated and encouraged the mission and chapter’s members to continue with the spirit of comradeship in the struggle. She assured them of her support wherever she will be.

“Amb. Lam Chuol Jock, my former secretaries, and honorable members of the SPLM council in Kenya, I am so delighted and grateful to have worked with you, I thank God and will keep praying so He can help you keep this comradeship spirit,” she said.

“I would like to congratulate the new leadership and assure it my full support, I am not gone, I am still with you and I will always be with you in the struggle,” Hon. Mary assured.

On his side, the newly elected chairman, Hon. Jago Adongjak appreciated the outgoing chairlady and the mission as well as council in general. He also assured the chapter his full commitment to the new assignment given.
