Addis Ababa/Juba. June 16, 2016 (SSNA) — A senior Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-In Opposition (SPLM-IO) official has accused South Sudan’s government of acting like a “mafia empire,” saying Juba is out of touch and must be confronted by all means necessary.

“The way they talk to the world leaders, the way they handle the peace process, the way they kill people in Juba and other parts of the country, and the way they use deception to prolong the war is beyond human imagination,” the official who demanded anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media told the South Sudan News Agency (SSNA) in Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa on Saturday.

“This is not an act of a government, it is an act of a mafia corporation,” he asserted.

The official also questioned the seriousness of the government about the peace. He states that the armed opposition has been for peace since the war broke out and that South Sudan needs peace now. He wonders why South Sudan information minister Michael Makuey is calling for a different place for Machar and Kiir to meet.

“We badly need peace to return to our nation. The problem is that dictator Salva kiir and his corrupt officials do not want any peace that would produce a neutral constitution. People like Makuey Lueth who only care for themselves instead for the country are the very people who deserve not to serve in any government,” the official further explained.

The South Sudan News Agency was told by a high-ranking government official that Kiir, Taban, and senior government officials are not happy when they heard that a face-to-face meeting between Kiir and Machar will take place in Ethiopia.

“We as a government, we have different groups. Obviously the most anti-peace group is the one with the President Kiir. This group has a different agenda,” the source who asked his name not to be used for fear of reprisal said.

“For them [Kiir’s group], seeing Riek Machar in Addis Ababa frighten them and I do no know why they feel that way,” he continued.

The government official also claimed that Ugandan leader Yoweri Museveni is secretly pushing Kiir not to accept peace.

  • God will grant South Sudan with permanent peace and upright leaders. The corrupt and murderers will belong to where God wants them to be.

  • Kiir and his Mafia gang won’t defeat the people’s cause no matter what. They can rape, kill, persecute, torture and sodomize the people but that won’t deter the democratic movement led by Dr Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon.
