Khartoum, June 26, 2018 (SSNA) — South Sudan’s viral leader Salva kiir and Riek Machar have agreed to continue negotiating on peace in the Sudan’s capital, Khartoum.
An official with the Sudanese ministry of foreign affairs who declined to be named in the report because he was not authorized to speak to the media told the South Sudan News Agency (SSNA) on Tuesday that Machar and kiir agreed to ceasefire and cantonments of rebel and government troops, and deployment of the east African and African union forces to enforce the implementation of the agreement.
“They agreed to bring peace back to the country, pledge to stop fighting, agreed where their troops will be stationed, and see a need to allow regional and AU forces to safeguard peace,” he said.
However, the official said the document is being finalized and that it will be made available when it is done. The Sudanese official also stated that South Sudan could have three temporary capital cities to host three vice presidents proposed in an IGAD document.
The South Sudan News Agency cannot independently verify the claim.
