Addis Ababa, February 18, 2019 (SSNA) — The National Salvation Front (NAS) has rejected President Salva Kiir’s call to end its rebellion and join the ongoing peace process, a senior aide to the NAS leadership told the South Sudan News Agency (SSNA) in Addis Ababa on Monday.

The assistant who asked his name to be shielded because he was not authorities to speak to the media explains that Jubek state elders were instructed by President Salva Kiir early this month to talk to NAS leader Thomas Cirillo to stop his fight against the government and join the process. The rebel discloses to the SSNA that two meetings took place between the elders and the NAS and that the rebel group rejected Kiir’s offer.

“We felt that this peace is not real peace, we believe this peace is a duplication of the previous problems, and we don’t want to be part of it. We told the elders that our main objective is to completely transform the South Sudan political system into a democratic system,” he explains.

The rebel official refuses to confirm or deny if the NAS leader met with the elders, saying, “It is not your business,” adding, “What is true here is that we met with them and rejected their message given to them by Kiir.”

The South Sudan News Agency also asked Cirillo’s aide about the location of the meeting. However, the rebel official declined to answer the question. The SSNA understands that the NAS criticized the elders on February 7 days after Kiir directed them to talk to Cirillo, labeling the process “nonsensical talks.”

The NAS repeatedly said Khartoum’s peace agreement failed to address the roots cause of the civil war and that the deal is simply a recipe for “more conflicts.”

If the Bari elders think they hold the key to convincing Cirilo to accept this evil Jieng and Nuer peace, they are wrong, this is about Equatoria and federation of South Sudan period.

The problem with Africa and Africans is the holding on to tribe and not country. Africa has produced less than five leaders that cared about country first without enriching themselves, their family and cohorts. Those that cared ended up dead, and to blame Europe or America is pretty lame.
So many decades since some countries have been independent and yet still there leaders and citizens have to run to America or Europe for care.
Africa is, was and will remain a lost cause as long as people care more about which stupid tribe runs the country.
