Juba, March 3, 2019 (SSNA) — The University of Cambridge has protested against an arbitrary arrest of a doctoral student Peter Biar Ajak, the BBC reports.

The report says students described Peter as a person with his country at heart and urge the authorities to free him.

The BBC also quoted an official at the University, saying Cambridge University is “deeply concerned about Peter’s welfare.”

Peter, a critic of the government, was arrested in July last year in Juba after he attended a youth forum. South Sudan’s government has a history of arresting, torturing, and killing its critics.
